ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY
The amphitheatre is located 31 miles / 49 km from downtown Houston. The venue is located in a suburban area and most people drive cars to the venue, though there are bike paths, bike parking and water taxis.
Carpooling:
We reserved approximately 1200 priority carpooling spots. The venue reported a 11% decrease in the total number of cars plus a significantly quicker experience getting cars in and out of their parking lots. They are intending to pursue the program further.
Renewable Energy:
Entergy supplies the electricity to the venue, but they do not currently have a renewable energy program.
Recycling:
The venue recycles plastic, aluminum, paper, cardboard, and cooking grease. They are working with Waste Management and local organization called Woodlands Green to work towards becoming a zero waste facility.
Catering:
Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, napkins, and cups for all meals. Compostable kitchen scraps were collected throughout the day for use by the facility's groundskeeping staff.
Concessions:
As with almost all of these venues, the green initiatives of concessions is limited to recyclable cups.
Other green initiatives:
The majority of all indoor and outdoor lighting have switched to compact fluorescent light bulbs. Some low flow shower heads and tap aerators have been installed. The venue has a sophisticated energy management system to control all the HVAC of the complex.
A special thanks to Jeff Young for his logistical support and innovating parking strategies.
