ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY
The amphitheatre is located 3 miles / 5 km from downtown Dallas. The venue is located on a fairgrounds with DART stops within walking distance to the venue. The majority of the audience drives.
Carpooling:
This venue is slightly different than the others for this tour as they currently charge for parking per vehicle rather than per ticket. Whereas other venues average about 2.7 people per car, this venue averages 3.34 people per car and for our show averaged 3.84 people per car. We used over 1500 carpooling spots and averaged 14% fewer cars than the average for a sold out show.
Renewable Energy:
TXU supplies the electricity to the venue and they do have a green power purchase program. We are working on purchasing the renewable energy for the show.
Recycling:
The venue doesn't usually have a recycling program, but they kindly agreed to bring in a single stream recycling program via their waste management company. They are working to keep this program for all their shows.
Catering:
Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, napkins, and cups for all meals. Compostable kitchen scraps were collected throughout the day for use by the fairground's gardening staff.
Concessions:
The green initiatives of concessions is limited to collecting and recycling cooking grease.
Other green initiatives:
The venue has not yet switched to low energy light bulbs or low flow faucets and showerheads. Office paper, toilet paper, and hand towels are made of recycled stock.
A special thanks to Nicole Hutchins for her enthusiastic support.
