ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY

Frequency Festival is situated on a green field site in St. Polten, Austria -- approximately 70km from Vienna.

Transportation:

Festival organisers encouraged the use of public train and bus transport by arranging multiple transport options for the festival. Earlier and later trains were arranged to and from the festival for Vienna, Salzburg, Linz and other local cities. Festival buses were organized to and from Paris, Strassburg, Lyon, Geniva, Lausanne, Bern, Zurich, Munich, Stuttgard, Kalsruhe, Mannheim, Augsburg, Pforzheim, and Ulm.

Energy:

All festival energy was supplied by Festrom and Event Electric generators.

Recycling:

In addition to audience area collection points for plastic bottles and aluminium, the festival hired a garbage disposal company to sort all festival garbage for additional recyclables. Beverages were sold in reusable cups with a 1 Euro deposit. Glass was not permitted on the festival grounds.

Catering:

Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, cups for all meals. Uncooked food scraps were collected for composting. As with almost all of our shows, water coolers were provided for use with refillable water bottles.

Other green initiatives/issues:

All festival campers were required to pay a 5 Euro garbage bag deposit, only refundable after returning an at least half-full garbage bag along with their deposit token.

Friends of the Earth Austria were welcomed participants, campaigning in support of the Austrian Climate Change Bill.

Many thanks to Monika Sanda, Harry Jenner, and all at Musicnet for their logistical support.
