ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY

The Lancashire County Cricket Club is an outdoor cricket field located 6 km / 4 miles from Manchester centre. The venue is serviced by many Manchester tram, bus, and metrolinks. We arranged a special shuttle bus for the event to transport people to and from city centre and the venue.

Parking:

There was no public parking available in the area surrounding the LCCC. An informal bicycle parking lot was setup along the fences of the neighboring business' car park. The vast majority of the audience took advantage of the public transport links.

Energy:

Today was a big battery day for lights. Biodiesel generators running audio were custom modified to run on recycled waste oil. High efficiency metal halide lights were used as flood lights instead of higher wattage tungsten ones.

Recycling:

The promoter worked out a program with the municipal trash collection service to setup glass, plastic, paper and plastic recycling for the backstage area.

Catering:

Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, and biodegradable cups for all meals. As with almost all of our shows, water coolers were provided for use with our refillable water bottles.

Other green initiatives/issues:

The venue uses high efficiency taps on drinking water and hand wash facilities to minimize the wastage of water. The field is meticulously cleaned up after each show to return it to playing condition. You can read their environmental policies here: http://www.lccc.co.uk/index.php?p=news&id=1123
