More information:

The Lakewood Ampitheatre (formerly the HiFi Buys Amphitheatre) is at 2002 Lakewood Way, a 3.8 miles south of downtown Atlanta and 3.5 miles north of Hartsfield Airport, GA 30315. For more information, please see the venue's website.

Please use public transportation to reach the venue if possible. For the quickest route, take a MARTA train to the Lakewood/Ft. McPherson transit station. From there, board the 'Lakewood Amphitheatre Concert Shuttle' to the venue which is then a quick 10 minute ride to the show. If you present proof of your MARTA ride, you can gain entry into the venue 1 hour before doors open to the public. The Shuttle runs 2.5 hours prior to show time and 1 hour after the show ends.

If you must take a car, we encourage you to carpool if at all possible. Take I-75/85 to the Langford Parkway East Exit. Turn left at the dead end and follow signs to the Amphitheatre. A limited number of VIP parking spaces will be reserved for vehicles of four (5) or more.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMARY

The amphitheatre is located 5 miles / 8 km from downtown Atlanta. The audience transportation is mixed -- many drive, but there is bike parking and the ability to get to the gig via MARTA public transportation.

Carpooling:

The parking lot layout was a bit different for this show and the accessibility of the car pooling spots appeared to be an issue. Since carpoolers had to enter from a separate entrance from general parking, only those specifically seeking the car pooling made their way to the lot and our total number of carpoolers was lower than usual.

Public Transportation:

The venue offered early entry for those who took public transportation to the gig! Marta Ridership was 2600 people.

Renewable Energy:

Georgia Power sells green tariffs for renewable energy which we are working with the venue to purchase for our show.

Recycling:

The venue offers recycling throughout the venue, partnering each garbage can with a recycling station.

Catering:

Caterers provided washable plates, cutlery, and napkins for all meals. If disposable containers were absolutely necessary, they provided biodegradable cups made from corn-based plastics. Caterers collected all their compostable kitchen scraps for use in the venue's new composting bin.

Concessions:

In addition to the usual LiveNation concessions fare, this venue will refill water bottles at concessions.

Other green initiatives:

The venue is in the process of switching over to all high efficiency light bulbs, replacing old ones as they burn out. Taps have tap aerators and most shower heads are low flow. Office paper, toilet paper, and hand towels are made of recycled stock.

A special thanks to Bill Allen, Warren Haynes and Jeannine Smaltz for their logistical support.
